MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December 13,
2008.- Guatemalan Blanca Recinos Ocaña
was elected the Most Valuable Player
of the FIVB World Championships
Norceca-E second-round pool won by her
side with a triumph over host
Nicaragua.
Recinos Ocaña was also the Best Scorer
of the six-team event where Guatemala,
Nicaragua and Panama secured tickets
to the third round of the competition.
There were two other double-winners of
categories in the Central American
competition and both formed part of
the host team –Lolette Rodriguez was
the Best Setter and the Best Server
and Myriam Blandino was the Best
Digger and Best Libero.

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December 13,
2008.- Guatemala recovered from a slow
start and went on to defeat host
Nicaragua 11-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-21
in the last match of the FIVB Women’s
World Championships Norceca-E
second-round pool.
One day earlier, both teams had
secured spots in the Norceca-F
third-round event through June 19-24
in Cuba next year, along with the
winner of the Norceca-C round in
Trinidad & Tobago.More

Honduras prevailed against Belize |

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December 13,
2008.- Honduras defeated Belize 3-1
(18-25, 26-24, 25-16, 25-16 and
finished the FIVB Women’s World
Championships Norceca-E second-round
Pool with a 1-4 win-loss record.
Belize went home winless in five
outings.
Tessa Flores led Honduras with 13
points and Maria Rodriguez had 10
including three aces. Indira Inestroza
contributed 3 aces to the total of ten
by the winners. Barbara Cadle and
Sherylee Thurton had 18 and 10 points
respectively for Belize.

Panama
qualify to third round in Dominican
Republic |

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December 13,
2008.- Panama defeated El Salvador in
three consecutive sets by score of
25-14, 26-24, 25-19 and qualified to
the third-round of FIVB Women’s World
Championships Norceca-H Pool in
Dominican Republic on June 10-15 next
year. The winners finished the
Norceca-E stage with a 3-2 win-loss
record, the opposite of the losers.

MANAGUA,
Nicaragua, December 12, 2008.-
Nicaragua had little problems to
dispatch Honduras in straight sets
(25-12, 25-12, 25-13) preparing the
scenario for a gold-medal match
against Guatemala on Saturday. Both
teams are already qualified for the
third-round tournament Norceca-F in
Cuba on June 19-24 next year.
Claudia
Noguera was again the top scorer of
Nicaragua with 15 points.

Guatemala secured a ticket for the
third round of the FIVB Women’s World
Championships by defeating El Salvador
in straight sets (25-14, 25-23, 25-18)
in Day Four of the Norceca-E Pool.
The
Guatemalans improved its win-loss
record to 4-0 good enough for a spot
in the Norceca-F third-round on June
19-24 next year.

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December 12,
2008.- Panama defeated Belize in
straight sets (25-19, 25-18, 25-00)
and evened its record at 2-2 in the
FIVB Women’s World Championships
Norceca-E second-round pool. Belize
remained winless in four outings.
On their way to the victory the
Panamanians benefitted from 33 rivals’
errors and outscored the girls from
Belize 7-3 in the serves category.

Nicaragua tied with Guatemala with perfect

Nicaragua, December 11, 2008.-
Nicaragua joined Guatemala as the two
unbeaten teams in the FIVB Women’s
World Championships Norceca-E second-round
Group after the completion of three
days of action. The host team defeated
El Salvador 25-18, 25-9, 25-18 on
Thursday.
The Nicaraguans served for 15 aces
cementing their path to the victory.

2008.- Guatemala recorded a 25-13,
25-16, 25-19 victory over Belize in
Day Three of the FIVB Women’s World
Championship Norceca-E second-round
Pool.
It took less than one hour for the
Guatemalans to score their third
victory without losses in the six-team
Central American region competition.
Belize has now a 0-3 win-loss mark.
Susana Alvarado led Guatemala with 12
points, Blanca Reciños added 11,
including three aces.

Guatemala scored a crushing 25-12,
25-11, 25-15 victory over Honduras in
the first match in opening day of the
Norceca-E FIVB Women’s World
Championships second round.
The top
world ranked Guatemala (49) found
little resistance from Honduras and
used its serves to neutralize the
rival in the whole match by recording
16 aces.

automatic third-round berth, Guatemala
emerge as the strongest team in the

rankings, have been runners-up in the
last two editions (2004 and 2006) of
